Professional Teeth Whitening Service
Although Clear Orthodontic Studio specialises in correcting misaligned teeth, we also provide a professional teeth whitening service with one of our qualified and registered dental practitioners.
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures, and when done properly it can be a simple, safe, and quick way to revitalise your smile. As registered dentists, our professionally administered whitening treatments contain much higher concentrations than those applied by beauty therapists or bought over the counter. This means that the whitening effect is far more dramatic and long-lasting.
To determine if you are suitable for teeth whitening, we suggest booking in to see us for a assessment. We will perform a quick dental examination to ensure that any tooth discolouration you may have is not caused by a more serious underlying problem. If everything looks good, we’ll explain the processes involved in our whitening treatments and then take you through the options available to you.
Teeth whitening can be done with a single one-hour session in the dentist’s chair or with a take-home whitening kit. The single session option offers an immediate result, whereas the home regime can be more cost-effective. It’s really just a matter of personal preference, as you will end up with the same beautiful smile in either case.
In-chair whitening requires an initial 30 minute appointment where we will take physical impressions of your teeth (top and bottom). These moulds will be used to make customised trays, similar to a retainer, which apply the whitening solution.
The actual whitening of the teeth takes place during the subsequent one-hour appointment. Whitening gel is applied to your teeth and a light is used which releases the oxygen in the whitening gel, removing stains from the surface of the teeth.
We’ll send you home with some take-home trays and whitening solution which can be used to brighten your teeth even further and for future touch ups.
The procedure for take-home whitening is very similar. We will create trays for you based on physical impressions of your teeth taken during the initial 30-minute assessment. A few days later we will issue you with your home whitening kit, which includes the trays and a whitening gel. We will go through some instructions on how to use the kit safely.
Good oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist will help to keep your teeth looking bright, while a poor diet, smoking, alcohol and other factors can increase the rate of discolouration. The good news is that when the whiteness finally starts to fade, you can contact us for a touch up or purchase some additional whitening gel to use in your trays.
